As a qualified therapeutic counsellor, I’ll support and work alongside you to address the negative or problematic thoughts and feelings you may be experiencing. I’m a registered member of the BACP providing therapy to adults (18+) in-person in South West London - Tooting (SW17) and Clapham (SW4) - and online.
I’m Lucy, a qualified and experienced counsellor and registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP). I work with individual adults (18+) online and face-to-face. I hold a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (CPCAB) alongside a BA Hons in Counselling. As part of my commitment to ethical practice and professional development, I regularly attend a variety of CPD and training sessions.
My way of working is integrative which enables me to draw on established, evidence-based psychotherapeutic approaches (predominantly person-centred, psychodynamic and CBT) to tailor my approach to reflect your unique concerns and individuality. My aim is to help you feel better, come to terms with the past or what is troubling you currently, and/or find ways to support you to identify a future that works for you.
I have experience of working in the NHS, low-cost counselling, bereavement services, schools and private practice with a range of mental health issues. These include (but not limited to):
Depression
Anxiety
Stress
Work-related issues
Self-esteem and identity issues
Grief, loss and bereavement
Unplanned/planned childlessness
Relationship/family/friendship issues
Ageing and/or illness
Loneliness
There are times when you might need some extra support with your mental health and wellbeing. Maybe a work or life event has thrown you off course, or you are struggling with new or ongoing feelings of anxiety and/or depression, or there are things in your past, present or future that you want to process and come to terms with. Counselling can support you with any and all of this.
Therapy offers you the chance to talk to a professional in a safe and confidential environment without judgement or pressure. It can provide important support at a time when life feels challenging.
The therapeutic relationship between client and therapist is at the heart of effective therapy and requires engagement and commitment from both. As a therapist I won’t give advice; I will support you as the client to find your own answers that work for you to bring about desired change in your life. At the start of the therapy process we will agree what you want to achieve and regularly review the process. This ensures we are working from your agenda at the level and pace that is suitable.
